Waco Channel 10's Julie Hayes Interviews President Bush

News Ten’s Julie Hays began submitting requests for a one-on-one interview with President George W. Bush several years ago, but the answer every time was “no.”

Then out of the blue came an early morning phone call from the White House.
"Julie. You're coming to the White House to interview the President,” one of the president’s assistants said.

And on Monday Jan. 12, Julie was one of just a handful of Texas journalists and the only reporter from Central Texas to be allowed to sit down with not only the president, but also the first lady, for a one-on-one interview.

The president talked about everything from his beloved Central Texas ranch to the decision on where to build his presidential library to Cindy Sheehan’s roadside vigil here, which served as a catalyst for the anti-war movement.
