Federal Judge Makes Insulting Remark About Sarah Palin and Trigg

Hat Tip The Sarah Palin Blog

BY Janet Crain
A Federal Judge made these remarks in connection with a hearing to determine if a special ruling could be made for a Autistic child with Asperberger's Syndrome, a high functioning form of Autism. There was no reason at all for her to make the insulting remark. Apparently it just popped into her head and she spewed it out.

A federal judge got political Wednesday, taking a swipe at Sarah Palin while powwowing with lawyers in the case of an autistic boy whose parents are fighting a ban on big dogs at their luxury upper East Side building.

Manhattan Federal Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald blasted the Alaska governor and former vice presidential candidate for bringing her Down syndrome child on stage after a debate.

"That kid was used as a prop," Buchwald told lawyers during a hearing on Wednesday. "And that to me as a parent blew my mind."

Buchwald, a 62-year-old Democrat appointed by former President Bill Clinton, said Palin should have put her child to bed. Such conferences are often held behind closed doors, but Buchwald held yesterday's session in open court. "Tell me who told the reporter," Buchwald demanded after realizing her words were on the record.

The comments came during a settlement conference in a lawsuit filed by the feds on behalf of 11-year-old Aaron Schein. Aaron's parents say the dog is medically necessary to help the boy cope with Asperger's syndrome.

"I kind of don't understand why this hasn't been worked out," Buchwald said. "You guys have been at this for two years? ... This is a child with a serious medical problem."

The owners of The Townsend House want to put a 25-pound limit on any dog that Aaron's parents - hedge fund manager Aaron Schein and Bronx Assistant District Attorney Maria Mostajo - pick out for him.

And Aaron wants a hypoallergenic Labradoodle - a popular Labrador and poodle mix that can top out at around 40 pounds.

How Sweet it is.........NOT!!!

Will there be a tax on this iconic vintage Barbie?

In yet another liberal goofy idea to raise money APPOINTED New York Governor David Paterson has proposed a 15% (or 18% as reported on Nightline) tax on naturally sweetened sodas. This doesn't make sense. If the idea is a tax on obesity causing foods, Why pick on coke?

A 12-ounce cola = 150 calories

A Dunkin Donuts medium Mocha Spice Latte = 330 calories

A Starbuck’s Chai Latte, whole milk, Venti = 398 calories

A Seattle's Best medium Peppermint Mocha Trio = 460 calories

A 12-ounce eggnog = 514 calories

Well, maybe he can ask Caroline Kennedy to solve some of the state's budgetary shortfalls because this idea fails miserably. According to the latest New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Community Health Survey, about 1.66 million NYC adults drink one 12-ounce serving of sugar-sweetened soda per day. Even at a retail cost of $1 apiece, a 15-cent tax would raise about $249,000/day or $90.9 million/year — still leaving at the end of the year a $13.2 billion deficit.

New York Governor, David Paterson, is reported as proposing a 15% tax on sugar-sweetened sodas, calling it an obesity tax. That makes it sound like it has a noble intention of public health concerns over obesity, when, as the Financial Times noted, it’s really just a way to raise money to help address the state’s $13.3 billion deficit.

But even that’s pretty sorry math. http://junkfoodscience.blogspot.com/2008/12/fat-discrimination-tax.html

But the real health concern is who told him diet drinks are better? They are not.
Aspartame - Other Sweeteners
Many people want to know what other artificial sweeteners they can safely use instead of aspartame. My first recommendation is NOT to use any chemical sweeteners at all, but merely use natural sugars or learn to adjust to the natural sweetness of raw foods themselves.

I have provided a list of alternative artificial sweeteners available on the market today, even though I am not recommending their use over natural sweeteners. I do recommend them above aspartame, nonetheless, as their side effects are less harmful to human health.

The best thing to do is avoid all artificial and chemical sweetener substitutes. They have NO food value, trick the body into thinking it is eating something sweet, and they have by-products of harmful toxic side effects. And remember that aspartame was discovered as an ulcer drug, not a sweetener. Every diet drink you used to drink was a dose of medication .

The Research
Scientific evidence strongly suggesting the chemical sweetener sucralose (Splenda) may harm your body. Perhaps there is no "free ticket" to eating all the sugar-free products you want without paying a high price physically – even weight gain!

Coke, it's the real thing!!!
