I know, we're just the chattering classes, but somebody has gone all paranoid here:
(U//FOUO) Proposed imposition of firearms restrictions and weapons bans
likely would attract new members into the ranks of rightwing extremist groups,
as well as potentially spur some of them to begin planning and training for
violence against the government. The high volume of purchases and
stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation
of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary
concern to law enforcement.
— (U//FOUO) Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are
attractive to rightwing extremists. DHS/I&A is concerned that rightwing
extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to
boost their violent capabilities.

This DHS report is similar to the FBI's Project Megiddo report issued in 1999, which claimed that "rightwing extremists" were planning a war in 2000. The FBI was spending its time tramping around in Idaho and Montana at the very time muslim terrorists were infiltrating the country in preperation for Sept 11th.
Project Megiddo turned out to be cobbled together reports from the Southern Poverty Law Center, and Anti-Defamation League, 2 extreme leftwing money machines who raise millions by scaring people into believing in rightwing extremists.
It would not be surprising if the SPLC and ADL were behind this DHS report as well.
