Celebrity Ambassadors

Gag me with a spoon.......oh, wait, I won't need one. The whole idea is sickening enough!!!!!!! JC

TOP TALKER – 'For Hollywood, the action's in D.C,' by Ted Johnson in Variety: '[A] handful of groups are trying to keep the industry's election-year activism going in the era of Obama, certain that such activism can flourish with a much more responsive White House to issues like the environment, health care, gay rights and stem cell research. Underlying the efforts is the idea that the industry should be viewed as more than an ATM for candidates and causes, particularly by the Democratic Party. ... To keep stars engaged, one suggestion has been that Obama create a network of celebrity surrogates, akin to the U.N. program of global ambassadors.'

King Harry Says Senators Can Do Whatever They Want To

Harry Reid Says Senators Can ‘Do Whatever We Want To’ Regarding Roland Burris
Monday, January 05, 2009By Staff, Associated Press

(Update: Illinois U.S. Senate appointee Roland Burris is leaving for Washington on Monday afternoon for a high-stakes showdown on Capitol Hill about whether he'll succeed President-elect Barack Obama in Congress.)

Washington (AP) - The Senate's top two Democrats defended their right to deny a seat to Roland Burris, Barack Obama's successor-in-waiting, while refusing to rule out a deal as Congress and its new members begin work this week. Democrats say Burris' appointment is tainted because it was made by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is accused by federal authorities of offering to sell the vacancy to the highest bidder. Burris, a former state attorney general, says the appointment is legal and the governor had the authority to do it. He has threatened to sue Senate Democrats if they refuse to swear him in as the chamber's only black member.

CNN Places Sarah Palin With 2008's Criminals, Sex Addicts, and the Corrupt
By Warner Todd Huston January 4, 2009 - 07:06 ET

Showing they have no sense of morality, no grasp of corruption and no understanding of what defines a criminal, CNN gives us another one of those ubiquitous year in review stories, this one titled "Politicians who fell from grace in 2008." In this one, CNN has decided to reveal for us their top eight politicians that found 2008 to be a "career-buster" because of their "crimes and misdemeanors" or their outrageous controversies.

CNN features corruption mired Rod Blagojevich, the sex crazed Elliot Spitzer and John Edwards, and the criminal bribe taker Ted Stevens among four others. Each of these men in the CNN list have either been convicted of criminal actions, are indicted for corruption, lost their positions, been drummed out of their party, or are soon to face jail time. Among these eight criminals, however, is a name that doesn't belong among this class of serial abuser of the public trust. It won't be shocking to note that among the worst sex criminals, bribe takers, liars and thieves in politics for 2008, CNN ridiculously included the name of Governor Sarah Palin.

Palin, however, has done nothing remotely like what these other political ner-do-wells have done. She did not take bribes, she did not indulge in sexual dalliances with co-workers or call girls, she did not get booted from her party or lose her job as Governor. She is not under indictment nor does she face jail time, yet CNN includes her in a list with Rob Blagojevich, John Edwards, Kwame Kilpatrick, Larry Langford, Tim Maloney, Elliot Spitzer and Ted Stevens.

This CNN slide show is based on the idea that these eight politicians have fallen from grace because of their criminal actions. Many of them have lost their political office either by being thrown out, voted out or having resigned. Some of them are about to go to jail and nearly all of them took bribes and illicit freebies and then made false statements to investigators as well as filing false tax statements. Seven of these politicians are criminals and right there, before our eyes, CNN has Sarah Palin among them.

Bristol Palin goes on the record: Teen pregnancy 'not ideal'

Posted: 10:10 AM ET

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

(CNN) — Bristol Palin, the teenage daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is going on the record about the recent birth of her son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston.

In a statement dated Wednesday but posted on the Alaska governor's Web site Friday, Bristol says the pregnancy was "not ideal," but is thankful to have a family who supported her.

“Teenagers need to prevent pregnancy to begin with – this isn’t ideal. But I’m fortunate to have a supportive family which is dealing with this together," Bristol Palin said in the statement. "Tripp is so perfectly precious; we love him with all our hearts. I can’t imagine life without him now.”

Al Gore Still Predicting Global Warming Despite Coldest Winter in 30 Years

By Stephanie Domurat
Story Published: Dec 27, 2008 at 6:55 PM MST
Story Updated: Dec 28, 2008 at 5:24 PM MST

BILLINGS - Many of us are still trying to dig out of the recent snow storm. But that wasn't the first storm to hit the area. Snow has been blanketing the Billings area for two weeks now.

Officials at the National Weather Service say this month has been unlike any other December of this decade. Despite the first two weeks of relatively warmer temperatures, this month overall is the coldest December in 30 years.

Though it's been a while since we've seen weather this cold and this much snow, officials say it's not that unusual. "This is Montana, it's winter and it's something we haven't seen in several years, but it certainly is something that happens, so just be careful," Joe Lester.

He says the weather is more difficult to predict this time of year because weather patterns change more frequently. He says you can expect warmer and drier weather to come, though it will be accompanied with winds.

Consolation Prize for a Failed Marriage or Bauble for Bored Socialite???

In last month's front-page story exploring Caroline Kennedy’s name recognition in her bid for New York’s vacant Senate seat, The New York Times made an observation: “Ms. Kennedy, who declared last week that she would like to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton as the junior senator from New York, is in many ways embarking on a test of the enduring power of her politically royal name.”

That is certainly true, but over the years Caroline has been called Ms. Schlossberg more often than anything else in spite of the fact she kept her own surname. Technically, Caroline Bouvier Kennedy’s name is…Caroline Bouvier Kennedy, or “Caroline Kennedy” for short: (“You don’t use the name Schlossberg, do you?” Larry King asked her in a 2002 interview. “I mean, you do and you don’t.” To which she responded, “Right. Well, I never really changed my name.”)

Because, as Amy Holmes declared on CNN, “Let’s face it, if we were talking about Caroline Schlossberg, this conversation would be absurd.”

For the record, Ms. Bouvier Kennedy Princess Camelot Mrs. Schlossberg Ms. Kennedy Caroline is still married to Edwin Schlossberg. Though there is much speculation that they have led separate lives since 2006. Additionally, although Ms. Kennedy made a pointed remark that she "has raised her children", her youngest is 15.

Gossip has it that she is having an affair with Arthur "Pinch" Salzberg but you won't read about it in the New York Times for the very good reason that Salzberger is the NYT publisher. JC

Times Bars Note on Caroline's Rumored Affair With Publisher
Posted Dec 22, 08 3:45 AM CST in Politics, Gossip

(Newser) – The New York Times will report almost anything newsworthy—except a rumored affair between its publisher and Caroline Kennedy, Gawker reports. When a reader commented on the paper’s City Room blog wondering if the Times would address the gossip surrounding the two, the comment was deleted with the explanation that “We don’t report stuff like this, regardless of people involved.”

Uh, sure.

“It’s very relevant that someone who wants one of the highest political offices in the state is in a romantic relationship with the publisher of the most influential newspaper in the state,” said the deleted post.
