Dumbest Quote of 2009

See Video: Brent Bozell unveils which talking heads and reporters get knuckle raps - Click Here Now

But the top prize for Quote of the Year goes to Melissa Lafsky of Discover magazine. Writing for the Huffington Post in August, after the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy, Lafsky said:

“[One wonders what] Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted’s death, and what she’d have thought of the life and career that are being heralded. Who knows — maybe she’d feel it was worth it.”

Bozell, whose organization tracks liberal bias in the media, told Newsmax.TV’s Ashley Martella: “Think about the mind-set here. Think of the utter illogical nature of that statement. What she’s saying is that, if Mary Jo Kopechne were to know what her death ultimately would mean for Ted Kennedy’s career, that she would think it would be worth it for her to be killed by Ted Kennedy,” when in fact her death cost him a chance to be president.

“But this really gets to the mind-set of the left, where the ends really do justify the means,” said Bozell, who also runs the Cybercast News Service. “They actually believe that Ted Kennedy is such a saintly, lionized figure that someone should be willing to be murdered by him in order to advance his career.”

We've got to get this right!!!

The terror attack on Christmas Day has brought out all sorts revelations about just how pathetic our terror fighting abilities truly are. I mean this deal was a comedy of errors and it was only by the grace of God almighty himself that this Islamic mad man’s Underbooms © failed to explode and take the plane down.

Not only was Abdul Farouk Umar Abdulmutallab on several watch lists, and from a real hotbed of al Qaeda terrorist activity, the guy’s own father warned the embassy that his son had become radicalized by militant Islamic fanatics. Never mind Abdul showed up with no luggage, tried to board with no passport, and paid for the one-way ticket to Detroit in cash. Who goes to Detroit without a ticket out of there anyway?

As bad as all of this is though, and this is a serious indictment on our entire terror fighting process, it also highlights another issue, energy independence.

Long before Sarah Palin made “death panels” a household word, long before she was even picked as the John McCain’s running mate, Sarah made energy independence a centerpiece of her message, her career. Sarah didn’t just talk the talk either, within hours of stepping into her new office as the Governor of Alaska, she began working on making the decades long dream of a natural gas pipeline to the lower 48 a reality.

It was Sarah’s dream to get Alaska’s 100’s of trillions of cubic feet of clean burning natural gas out of the ground and into use. She was able to work out all of the issues and now the pipeline is on track to become a reality.

Of course, Sarah’s message on energy independence isn’t just an economic one. Now it’s true, we send between $700 billion and $1 trillion dollars annually overseas. The problem is many times it’s to nations that not only hate us, but use our own dollars to fund efforts to undermine us as a nation. In other words, they use our dollars to fund terror, world wide, against the United States, and our allies.

Even worse, we are forced to act gingerly, even timidly, on many issues, lest we cause major problems with big oil producing nations like Saudi Arabia. We make those guys mad, and they can shut us off, or raise prices to the moon, destroying our already devastated economy. (That is if Obama and the rest of the democrat/communists don’t beat them to it!)

Global Warming Proponents Say Eat the Dog!!!

by Janet Crain
This is another example of wrong headed stupidity from the same people who say cows are killing us all. They don't know that cows, goats, sheep and other domestic mammals spend most of their lives eating cellulose material that humans cannot digest, thereby turning it into nutrient packed foods such as milk, cheese, and meat. Humans need these foods and benefit greatly. Soy and other vegetable meat substitutes require fertilizer, pesticides and fossil fuels for their production. Farmers aren't using mules and plows these days.

Pets, despite what this article say,s do not consume nearly this much meat. Have you looked at a label? Corn is always number one. Maybe some very expensive brands of pet food contain this much meat, but the majority of pets aren't consuming these high dollar brands.

So I am going to keep on consuming meat and dairy products, buying pet food for my pets, driving my paid for gas guzzler and sending Christmas cards printed on real paper.

The joy of a live well lived with all things in moderation received with a thankful heart cannot be measured by monetary cost or carbon footprint equations.

Bah humbug to the chicken littles who spread this nonsense!!!

Are Dogs Bad for the Environment?

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Are dogs just as harmful to the environment as gas-guzzling SUVs? That's the claim by a new study from researchers in New Zealand.

AFP reports that Robert and Brenda Vale who wrote the book "Time to Eat the Dog: The Real Guide to Sustainable Living" calculated that a medium-sized dog eats around 360 pounds of meat and over 209 pounds of cereal a year.

The land needed to produce such food is calculated to be 2.08 acres, which is more than twice the 1.01 acres needed to create enough energy to build a Toyota Land Cruiser. But because the Land Cruiser drives an average of 12,000 a year, the carbon footprint of the SUV and the dog are roughly equal.

"Owning a dog really is quite an extravagance, mainly because of the carbon footprint of meat," John Barrett at the Stockholm Environment Institute in York, Britain, told AFP. The Vales asked the Institute to run their own calcuations that compared dogs to SUVs, and it got the same result.

Cats were also found to be harmful, but their footprint was less -- about the equivalent of driving a Volkswagen Golf for a year.

UPDATE: Transvestites, Mao And Obama Ornaments Decorate White House Christmas Tree

UPDATE: White House officials claim they didn't know these ornaments were on the WH Christmas trees.

I apologize for publishing these ugly pictures. I remember in years past watching the White House being decorated on the HGTV special. But no more. I don't watch this kind of travesty.

by Capitol Confidential

Why let a holiday season come between the White House and making some political statements? The White House pegged controversial designer Simon Doonan to oversee the Christmas decorations for the White House. Mr. Doonan, who is creative director of Barney’s New York has often caused a stir with his design choices. Like his naughty yuletide window display of Margaret Thatcher as a dowdy dominatrix and Dan Quayle as a ventriloquist’s dummy. For this year’s White House, he didn’t disappoint.

White House 008

These photos of ornaments on the White House Christmas tree in the Blue Room were taken just days ago. Of course, Mao has his place in the White House.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without an ornament of legendary transvestite Hedda Lettuce.

White House 002

He/She even signed it:

White House 015

And, so soon after collecting the Nobel Peace Prize, why wouldn’t the White House have an ornament super-imposing President Obama onto Mt. Rushmore:

White House 005

All around, a very Barry Christmas!

Or should that be barfy? JC

What Sen. Blanche Lincoln THINKS the Constitution Means

Sen. Lincoln: Congress Can Force Americans to Buy Health Insurance Because Constitution ‘Charges Congress With the Health’ of the People

Wednesday, December 16, 2009
By Nicholas Ballasy
(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) told CNSNews.com that Congress has the authority to force individual Americans to buy health insurance because the U.S. Constitution “charges Congress with the health and well-being of the people.”

The words “health” and “well-being” do not appear anywhere in the Constitution.

The Congressional Budget Office has determined that in the entire history of the United States the federal government has never mandated that Americans buy any good or service. Both the House and Senate health care bills, however, include provisions that require all legal residents of the U.S. to purchase health insurance, a provision whose constitutionality has been qiuestioned by, among others, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R.-Utah), the former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

At a press conference on Capitol Hill, CNSNews.com asked Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and Blanche Lincoln the following question: “What part of the Constitution do you think gives Congress the authority to mandate that individuals have to purchase health insurance?”

Lincoln did not answer the question during the press conference but spoke to CNSNews.com in the Dirksen Senate Office Building immediately afterward. CNSNews.com asked her there: ‘You didn’t respond to my constitutionality question during the press conference, and what was your reaction to, your answer to the question?”

“Well, I just think the Constitution charges Congress with the health and well-being of the people,” Lincoln said.

Really, Senator? And do you care what I think?

And the Insanity Continues...........

“I will not walk away from the 12 million undocumented immigrants who live, work and contribute to our country every day.”

Then-Sen. Obama 2007 National Council of La Raza (NCLR) national conference

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

If you were president of the United States, would you hire an alleged former spy for Fidel Castro to be ambassador to El Salvador, a country teetering on the brink of hard-core socialism? President Obama just did.

On Dec. 9, Obama nominated Mari Del Carmen Aponte to be ambassador to El Salvador, despite the fact that in the late 1990s, the FBI discovered that she was working with Cuban intelligence officers. According to Insight Magazine, “When the FBI eventually questioned her about her involvement with Cuban intelligence, she reportedly refused to cooperate.”

Why would Aponte escape the Obama administration’s scrutiny? Because she is a former board member of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest Hispanic advocacy organization in the United States, with 300 affiliated community-based organizations, many of which run like local ACORN offices.

In fact, the day before Obama nominated Aponte, NCLR-affiliate Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) was raided by the Phoenix Sheriff’s Office, which was investigating a kickback scheme between CPLC and indicted Maricopa County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox. CPLC allegedly gave Wilcox $297,000 in undisclosed loans in exchange for her votes to award over a million dollars in county contracts to CPLC.

The Obama administration has consistently bent over backward to seek the approval of the NCLR. La Raza, by the way, means “The Race”; the organization’s founding document, el Plan Espiritual de Aztlan, rips the “brutal ‘gringo’ invasion of our territories” and urges Hispanics to “[reclaim] the land of their birth,” while declaring that “the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny.”

A Different Christmas Poem

Not sure who wrote this beautiful poem, but just wanted to share with you all.

JC

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.

My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.

Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.

My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.

In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.

Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.

My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.

Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!

Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."

"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.

My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."

My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.

I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.

I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..

Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."

"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?

It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.

To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.

For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.

Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."
