Me Patti, You ..........Blago???

by Janet Crain

Patti Blagojevich claims she is doing this Summer reality show to resurrect her reputation as something other than a foul mouthed Chicago girl. Well, I hope she doesn't encounter a 27 foot boa constrictor. We may find out we ain't heard nothing yet.

Ex-governor Blagojevich was not permitted to travel to Costa Rica to appear in a reality television show but, his wife, Patti is stepping up to the plate and appearing in his place. She arrived in Los Angeles for a promotional shoot earlier this week.

Rod is facing federal corruption charges for scheming to trade or sell President Obama’s U.S. Senate seat and using his position as governor to procure campaign contributions from companies dealing with state business.

He was banned by a federal judge to participate in the NBC show, “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here” as he has no passport. Supposedly, he will be connected to the show in a “surprise” manner. NBC explains the show as being about “10 pampered celebrities dumped into the jungle to see if they survive.”

However, Blagojevich is permitted to travel around the country and flew to Los Angeles in April to do a promo for the show. He simulated a parachute jump using wind machines while wearing a harness and lifted in front of a blank green ChromaKey screen.

The Rod Blagojevich media tour continues! Up next: Letterman

By Jimmy Orr 02.02.09

Good news. The Rod Blagojevich media tour continues.
The former Democratic Illinois governor is going to continue the PR strategy that has taken him this far. Sure, he was ousted from office by a razor-thin 59-0 Illinois senate vote on Thursday. And the week prior his lawyer dumped him because he wouldn’t quit talking. And most lawyers believe his media blitz last week was a disaster.

But, as they say, “you don’t change horses midstream.”

More Blago

Blago is going to prove that he just needs more airtime.
So where do you go? David Letterman.
The former governor (whose Illinois road signs were all taken down over the weekend) will appear on the Letterman show Tuesday night.

Blagojevich Ousted by Illinois State Senate

By MALCOLM GAY and SUSAN SAULNY
Published: January 29, 2009
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois State Senate Thursday convicted Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich on a sprawling article of impeachment that charged him with abusing his power. The vote prompted the governor’s immediate and permanent ouster and ended nearly two months of political spectacle in which he sought unsuccessfully to salvage his reputation and career here and across the country.

Mr. Blagojevich, a two-term Democrat who rose from the ranks of Chicago ward politics on the strength of his charisma and family connections, is the first governor in the state’s history to be impeached. The senators voted 59 to 0 in favor of removing him after a four-day trial and about two hours of deliberation.

Pick an Actor to Play Blago

You just know there's going to be a movie about Hot Rod Blagojevich, Illinois'
beleaguered governor now under impeachment. Get a head start on picking the actor (or actress) to play his part. Personally, I think he would be great in the part!!!

Blagojevich Reverses Course to Give Closing Argument
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is expected to deliver a closing argument at his Senate impeachment trial Thursday.

FOXNews.com
Thursday, January 29, 2009
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich plans to reverse course Thursday morning and deliver a closing statement at his impeachment trial, even after boycotting and ridiculing the proceedings earlier this week.

Lawmakers do not know what to expect. Blagojevich, who was on a media blitz in New York City while the trial in the Illinois Senate carried on, has asserted his innocence and rejected numerous calls for him to resign.

Blagojevich will not testify, which would have involved taking an oath and answering questions from the prosecutor and senators. Instead, he will deliver a closing statement.

"Like so many others, I'm going to be on pins and needles just waiting to see what he's going to be delivering us. It could be anything," said state Sen. Susan Garrett, D-Lake Forest.

Alas, Poor Blagojevich, we knew him too well....No thanks to the media

Hat Tip: http://therealbarackobama.wordpress.com/2009/01/25/blago-subpoenas-wheres-the-tanning-bed-media-now/

And where will Blagojevich and his sweet tempered bride be during the impeachment proceeding beginning tomorrow?

Why they are going to London to see the Queen or actually to New York, New York to appear on ABC’s “Good Morning, America” with Diane Sawyer and “The View” with Barbara Walters, as well as Monday evening’s “Larry King Live” on CNN. Lynn Sweet adds they will also appear on NBC’s Today Show (taped in Chicago) and FOX’s On the Record with Greta Van Susteren/Fox and Friends.

Doug Ross at Director Blue commented

A veritable “who’s who” of Obama staffers, surrogates and affiliates were among those served with subpoenas. Put simply, within one week of President Barack Obama’s administration taking office, it is already under significant legal scrutiny that will — at a minimum — take precious time away from dealing with the country’s monumental economic and foreign policy challenges.

And, once again, the mainstream media is AWOL, unwilling to report on this very newsworthy story.

Those subpoenaed:

  • Patricia Blagojevich, first lady
  • River Realty, her former employer
  • Friends of Blagojevich, the governor’s campaign committee
  • Citizens for Blagojevich, his former committee
  • Robert Blagojevich, the governor’s brother and campaign chairman
  • Antoin “Tony” Rezko, former adviser and fundraiser for governor
  • Christopher Kelly, former adviser and fundraiser for governor
  • Alonzo Monk, former Blagojevich chief of staff, now a lobbyist
  • Milan Petrovic, lobbyist and campaign fundraiser
  • John Wyma, former Blagojevich adviser, now a lobbyist
  • Paul Rosenfeld, lobbyist
  • J.B. Pritzker, wealthy Chicagoan whom Blagojevich might have considered to replace Obama in U.S. Senate
  • Gery Chico, former Chicago school board president and one-time U.S. Senate candidate
  • Doug Scofield, former Blagojevich adviser, now a consultant
  • Scofield Communications
  • Valerie Jarrett, Obama adviser
  • David Axelrod, Obama adviser
  • Service Employees International Union
  • Tom Balanoff, SEIU Illinois president
  • Change to Win, an SEIU-affiliated activist group
  • Sam Zell, owner of the Chicago Tribune
  • Nils Larsen, an adviser to Zell
  • The Chicago Tribune
  • The Tribune Co., the newspaper’s parent company
  • Michael Vondra, owner of asphalt and construction companies
  • Gerald Krozel, vice president of a concrete company
  • John Johnston, president of Balmoral Park racetrack
  • Fred Yang, Washington, D.C.-based Blagojevich consultant
  • Garin Hart Yang Research Group, Yang’s firm
  • William Knapp, Washington, D.C.-based Blagojevich consultant
  • Squire, Knapp & Dunn, Knapp’s firm
  • Doug Sosnick, political consultant

Doug Ross adds: “Blago’s ‘Senate Candidate 3′, Jan Schakowsky, was not served with a subpoena, but will have some questions of her own to answer in the days to come.”

And let’s not forget Rahm Emanuel, reportedly on 21 different taped conversations by the feds — dealing with his boss’ vacant Senate seat!

Blagojevich Outdoes his Previous Grandstanding Behavior at Press Conferance Today

Chicago governor Blagojevich just outdid himself in outrageous behavior. He scheduled a press conference and after an anxious wait by reporters he was preceeded to the front of the room by several persons. He then arrived considerably later, walked in as if he had been voted the most popular man in America and began a long rambling speech about why the Illinois House has voted to impeach him. According to Blagojevich it is because he helped enact legislation that helped the people on stage with him when they were desperately ill. He told about the circumstances of each person's illness and the specific legislation that saved their life. After each one he said; "And that is why the House wants to impeach me."

The man is clearly a megalomaniac.

It was theater at its best and worst.

Illinois House Moves to End Freak Show Government

Does it seem odd to anyone else that the House held off on this action until Burris was accepted as the appointed Senator to fill Obama's seat? JC

Illinois House Impeaches Governor

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: January 9, 2009
Filed at 11:46 a.m. ET

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois House voted overwhelmingly Friday to impeach Gov. Rod Blagojevich, an unprecedented action that sets up a Senate trial on whether he should be thrown out for allegedly trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat.

Impeachment required just 60 votes. The final result was 114-1.
Legislators accused the second-term Democratic governor of letting down the people of Illinois by letting ego and ambition drive his decisions.
''It's our duty to clean up the mess and stop the freak show that's become Illinois government,'' said Rep. Jack D. Franks, a Democrat.

CNN Scrubs Sarah Palin's Name From Insulting Article

by Janet Crain
As reported here CNN published an article about failed and discredited politicians in 2008 and included Sarah Palin in with rogues like Blagojevich, Spitzer, and John Edwards. The anonymous hack who came up with this dumb idea has now scrubbed her name from the article. No public apology, but reportedly CNN did send Governor Palin a private apology. Thanks to all who wrote letters to CNN.

CNN quietly scrubs Palin’s name from article
Posted by Josh Painter

CNN must have felt the love. The cable news network had included Sarah Palin with the likes of Rod Blagojevich, Elliot Spitzer, John Edwards, Ted Stevens and others in a year-end political review titled “Politicians who fell from grace in 2008.” As frequent RedState contributor Warner Todd Huston had pointed out at NewsBusters.com, every person named in the article, with the exception of Sarah Palin:

“have either been convicted of criminal actions, are indicted for corruption, lost their positions, been drummed out of their party, or are soon to face jail time.”
That there was no reason for Gov. Palin’s name to be associated with those of the seven criminals featured in the article seems to have been clear to everyone except the anonymous author of the CNN smear job.

King Harry Says Senators Can Do Whatever They Want To

Harry Reid Says Senators Can ‘Do Whatever We Want To’ Regarding Roland Burris
Monday, January 05, 2009By Staff, Associated Press

(Update: Illinois U.S. Senate appointee Roland Burris is leaving for Washington on Monday afternoon for a high-stakes showdown on Capitol Hill about whether he'll succeed President-elect Barack Obama in Congress.)

Washington (AP) - The Senate's top two Democrats defended their right to deny a seat to Roland Burris, Barack Obama's successor-in-waiting, while refusing to rule out a deal as Congress and its new members begin work this week. Democrats say Burris' appointment is tainted because it was made by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is accused by federal authorities of offering to sell the vacancy to the highest bidder. Burris, a former state attorney general, says the appointment is legal and the governor had the authority to do it. He has threatened to sue Senate Democrats if they refuse to swear him in as the chamber's only black member.

CNN Places Sarah Palin With 2008's Criminals, Sex Addicts, and the Corrupt
By Warner Todd Huston January 4, 2009 - 07:06 ET

Showing they have no sense of morality, no grasp of corruption and no understanding of what defines a criminal, CNN gives us another one of those ubiquitous year in review stories, this one titled "Politicians who fell from grace in 2008." In this one, CNN has decided to reveal for us their top eight politicians that found 2008 to be a "career-buster" because of their "crimes and misdemeanors" or their outrageous controversies.

CNN features corruption mired Rod Blagojevich, the sex crazed Elliot Spitzer and John Edwards, and the criminal bribe taker Ted Stevens among four others. Each of these men in the CNN list have either been convicted of criminal actions, are indicted for corruption, lost their positions, been drummed out of their party, or are soon to face jail time. Among these eight criminals, however, is a name that doesn't belong among this class of serial abuser of the public trust. It won't be shocking to note that among the worst sex criminals, bribe takers, liars and thieves in politics for 2008, CNN ridiculously included the name of Governor Sarah Palin.

Palin, however, has done nothing remotely like what these other political ner-do-wells have done. She did not take bribes, she did not indulge in sexual dalliances with co-workers or call girls, she did not get booted from her party or lose her job as Governor. She is not under indictment nor does she face jail time, yet CNN includes her in a list with Rob Blagojevich, John Edwards, Kwame Kilpatrick, Larry Langford, Tim Maloney, Elliot Spitzer and Ted Stevens.

This CNN slide show is based on the idea that these eight politicians have fallen from grace because of their criminal actions. Many of them have lost their political office either by being thrown out, voted out or having resigned. Some of them are about to go to jail and nearly all of them took bribes and illicit freebies and then made false statements to investigators as well as filing false tax statements. Seven of these politicians are criminals and right there, before our eyes, CNN has Sarah Palin among them.

Angry Democrats: IT'S NOT ABOUT RACE

Rod "caught red-handed with his hand in the cookie jar" Blagojevich continues his bizarre governorship of Illinois

Huffington Post Image Credit

Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), on CBS News' 'The Early Show': 'All these folks who are opposed to Governor Blagojevich, they need to take a chill pill.'

TOP STORY -- Chicago Tribune banner: 'A defiant pick,' by Rick Pearson and Ray Long: 'In a display of political bravado, disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Tuesday appointed former Illinois Atty. Gen. Roland Burris to the U.S. Senate, challenging national Democratic leaders to reject the appointment of an African-American to the seat that propelled Barack Obama to the White House. The defiant move tests the resolve of Senate Democrats who said they would not admit anyone appointed by Blagojevich, who is facing impeachment after being accused of trying to sell the Senate seat for personal gain. And it reveals to a nation celebrating Obama's victory the underbelly of Chicago's race-based political scene.'

Chicago Sun-Times cover: 'State of Disbelief.'

***Sun-Times editorial: 'The governor's defense now can argue that the governor never intended to sell the Senate seat. See for yourself -- he chose Burris. Nor does Burris' appointment hurt Blagojevich if there happen to be African Americans on Blagojevich's jury, according to traditional thinking among the defense bar.'

PUNDIT PREP – 1) If the appointment is certified, Senate Democratic leaders are likely to introduce a motion to withhold seating 'the gentleman from Illinois' until the outcome of an investigation by the Rules Committee, which will look into whether the choice was fair and proper, whether there was a quid pro quo, etc. 'That buys us 90 days,' an official said. That should be enough so they won't have to act. An official calls Blago's move 'a tantrum ... 'I am TOO the governor.' It inflamed Illinois legislators, speeding up the impeachment process. 'He will not be governor by Valentine's Day,' the official said.

Who is Roland Burris?

by Janet Crain
Adding to the circus like atmosphere of 2008 politics, beleaguered and discredited Chicago governor, Blagojevich, has pulled a rabbit out of his hat.

Told that the senate body would reject anyone he attempted to appoint, he chose a man it will be very hard for Harry Reid to reject without being called a racist. JC

Politico

by Ryan Grim

On Election Day in November, Roland Burris walked alone to his polling place and was greeted by a local news team working on a historical piece about African-Americans elected statewide in Illinois.

Back in 1978, Burris had become the first. But on Election Day 2008, only the older folks at his polling place recognized him.

“How soon they forget,” Burris mused then. “You get pushed to the side, when you’re no longer in office, quite easily.”

He must not have been enjoying the anonymity. Within weeks of Barack Obama’s election as president, Burris stood in front of the cameras, with Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn behind him, to announce his interest in the president-elect’s Senate seat.

The nascent campaign for the seat went positively subterranean when Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested for allegedly attempting to sell it. Burris, though, kept hope alive.

He is a persistent man. After winning statewide races for comptroller and attorney general — which straddled a losing 1984 bid for U.S. Senate — he set a course for the governor’s mansion. He failed to win the Democratic primary in 1994, and he followed that with a failed bid for the Chicago mayor’s office in 1995 and two more unsuccessful runs for governor in 1998 and 2002.

Burris has two children: Roland and Rolanda.

He now runs the lobbying and consulting firm Burris & Lebed Consulting. That might make him ineligible to work in the Obama administration, but it doesn’t rule him out of the Senate. Blagojevich declared him to be a man of “unquestioned integrity” in announcing his appointment Tuesday.

Before the governor’s presser, however, the Illinois GOP released a collection of old reports that questioned Burris’ integrity, noting that he continued to raise money for Blagojevich even after the governor came under a dark ethical cloud.

The questioning goes back further.

“He decries pinstripe patronage, but Burris' terms as comptroller and attorney general have been rife with contracts for contributors,” wrote a Chicago Tribune columnist in 1994 as Burris was running for governor. “In a petty complaint, he criticizes [an opponent’s] use of significant campaign loans from her husband, yet Burris accepts questionable contributions from nursing home operators regulated by the state and once sweetened his state pension with a loan from his own political fund.”

But Burris’ persistence paid off Tuesday with a Senate appointment. He beamed as Blagojevich trumpeted him and asked that he not be found guilty by his association with the embattled governor. When Blagojevich mentioned that the pair had previously been political opponents, Burris smiled wider.

Blagojevich, too, seemed to be making the most of the show. He told reporters that he had enjoyed his recent time in the limelight, but wanted to defer to Burris. Later, when Burris turned to Blagojevich to see if the governor wanted to answer a question, Blagojevich smirked, “You’re the senator.”

Media Dropped the Ball

By Mark Finkelstein (Bio | Archive)
December 16, 2008 - 08:20 ET

Video Here: http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/checker.aspx?v=ydpr8zQukU
Rahm Emanuel, a congressman from Chicago and a friend of Obama's, told me that he, Obama, David Wilhelm, who was Blagojevich's campaign co-chair, and another Blagojevich aide were the top strategists of Blagojevich's victory. He and Obama "participated in a small group that met weekly when Rod was running for governor," Emanuel said. "We basically laid out the general election, Barack and I and these two." A spokesman for Blagojevich confirmed Emanuel's account, although David Wilhelm, who now works for Obama, said that Emanuel had overstated Obama's role. -- from Making It: How Chicago Shaped Obama, by Ryan Lizza, the New Yorker, July 21, 2008.

In one of the more incisive indictments of the MSM I've witnessed, certainly by one of its own, Joe Scarborough tore into the media this morning for its failure to have investigated Barack Obama's political roots. In particular, the Morning Joe host ripped the MSM for not testing the truth of Ryan Lizza's reporting, above, of Rahm Emanuel's claim that he and Obama were central figures in Blago's 2002 gubernatorial campaign. Scarborough pointed out that already this summer, when the Lizza article appeared, it was known that Blago was under a deep ethical cloud. Yet the MSM charged off to Wasilla to investigate Sarah Palin's librarian, utterly uninterested in the report of Obama's intimate link with America's most corrupt governor.

Where's Jimmy?

Man behind curtain is wizard of Rod, Rahm

Just when you think you've met the whole cast, another character is introduced. And what a character! JC

Secretary of commerce announcement

President-elect Barack Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel (2nd from left) listens as Obama introduces New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson as his nominee for Secretary of Commerce at a press conference at the Hilton Chicago. (Tribune photo by Nancy Stone / December 3, 2008)

When it comes to being the guy behind the guy, there is no one more conspicuous than Rahm Emanuel.

As chief of staff for President-elect Barack Obama, he's usually at Obama's news conferences, standing off to the side, glowering like some fiercely loyal mini-me.

But Emanuel wasn't there Thursday when Obama faced reporters to answer questions about federal charges against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D-Dead Meat), accused of trying to sell Obama's Senate seat to the highest bidder.

"I have never spoken to the governor on this subject," Obama said. "I am confident that no representatives of mine would have any part of any deals related to this."

Wow. No staffers tried to make a deal for his Senate seat?

"I've asked my team to gather the facts of any contacts with the governor's office about this vacant seat, so that we can share them with you over the next few days," Obama said.

He could have just asked Emanuel, but he wasn't there, and reporters kept wondering, "Where's Rahm? Where's Rahm?" What they should have been asking is, "Where's Jimmy?"

As in state Sen. James DeLeo (D-How You Doin?)

DeLeo is an extremely powerful politician. You know this because he's hardly ever quoted in newspaper stories.

Emanuel and DeLeo have a relationship. Emanuel is the congressman from the 5th Congressional District, where DeLeo is the Democratic state central committeeman. What hasn't been reported on much is that Emanuel has not yet resigned from the House. And if you want to play politics in Jimmy's sandbox, you need his OK.

DeLeo is also considered by some to be the real governor of Illinois. Blagojevich is the nutty guy who makes the speeches and gets the federal slap. They're so close that if Jimmy suddenly stopped walking, Rod would chip his teeth on the back of Jimmy's head.

So how close are Rahm and Jimmy? We're about to find out. JC

Rendell: Obama bungled Blago response

I just don't understand why the incoming administration is stonewalling instead of answering the questions being asked by everyone; reporters and the public alike. Even Democrats are beginning to think this investigation is taking way too long. JC

By 12/12/08 7:03 PM EST Updated: 12/12/08 7:03 PM EST

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell today criticized Barack Obama for not being more upfront about the Illinois corruption scandal.
Now, he said, the story will continue to dominate the media’s attention. “They have never been in an executive position before,” Rendell said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “The rule of thumb is whatever you did, say it and get it over with and make it a one-day story as opposed to a three-day story. Politicians are always misjudging the intelligence of the American people.”
Known for his blunt critiques of fellow Democrats, Rendell did not hold back during the interview.
The public, said Rendell, understands Obama and his aides would have an interest in who fills the Senate seat and some contact with the governor's office — and that Obama should have said as much at the outset.
"Did Rahm Emanuel, who took Rod Blagojevich's seat in Congress, have contact with Rod Blagojevich? Of course he did," Rendell said. "They may have thought he was the craziest S.O.B. in the world. But you still have to have contact with him."

Down the Memory Hole

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_hole

Hat Tip to:http://mainstreamconservative.blogspot.com/2008/12/obama-lied-axlerod-complied.html

What did the president-elect know, and when did he stop knowing it? Yesterday, the Lightworker attempted to distance himself from his good buddy Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D-IL) in familiar Obama fashion - by tossing the accused crook under the bus:

Saddened and bla bla.....

Knew nothing........

Cannot comment.......

Never spoke with the Governor about this bla bla.....

But unfortunately for the Hope and Change set, there is a problem. Let's set the Not-So-Wayback machine for November 5, more than two weeks before the day Axlerod allegedly "misspoke." Quincy, IL television station KQHA reported:
Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.
