Fran and the Man.........

Hat Tip Chickaboomer

by Janet Crain
A hot new television show in the Summer lineup is Fran and the Man. Starring Fran Dresler as herself and Bill Clinton as himself, the fireworks will debut just as soon as the SOTUS sees this. Ms. Dresler, washed up former actress, now activist and promoter of silly slightly important causes is sure to rekindle her former reputation as a hot chick no one wants to listen to. Bill Clinton demonstrates the old adage "once a dog, always a dog."

The presentation is set to air in the former American Idol time slot so as to cash in that audience's habitual viewing habits.

Former US president Bill Clinton met Fran Drescher at the Life Ball charity event in Vienna over the past weekend. And he was caught on camera
groping the actress. It seems that he likes to keep his fingers on the pulse of the important issues.

Former president Bill Clinton met Fran Drescher at the Life Ball charity event in Vienna over the past weekend. What happened was an embarrassing brush between the two. The jury is still out on whether giving a hand in this way can happen accidentally.

Drescher is an Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominated American film and television actress, comedian, and activist.

Fetus or Unborn Child; That is the Question.......

by Janet Crain
A bill before the Oklahoma Senate which would give pregnant women the right to kill anyone endangering the life of their unborn child has some pro-choice people uneasy. They think this would open up all kinds of problems for the pro-abortionists. Doctors, clinic staff and anyone associated with an abortion might be liable as killing an unborn child.. If the wording were different they would feel much better about this law. If only fetus or pregnancy had been used in place of "unborn child". Unborn child carries all kinds of connotations. It makes you think of this baby as a person, as a human being.

Barack Franklin Dwight Obama, I don't Think So!!!

News

Salon

March 6, 2009

Barack Obama's bold, ambitious budget plan proves that he is the true heir of Franklin Roosevelt and the New Deal. Consider Obama's Rooseveltian energy plan. In 1939, President Roosevelt decided to mobilize Americans to create a new source of energy: atomic power. Although he was urged to focus on government-funded R&D, FDR chose a different route. He wisely encouraged private capital to invest in atomic energy research by a variety of tax incentives. To make atomic power investment more palatable to private capital, FDR boldly chose to make all other forms of energy in the U.S. uneconomical, by slapping high taxes on kerosene and coal. With the money from the new federal Kerosene Cap and Trade system, President Roosevelt and Congress funded a small-scale federal research program, in the hope of attracting much greater private investment ...

Wait. What's that you say? FDR didn't do that? He poured federal money into the all-public Manhattan Project and created the first atomic bomb in a couple of years? He didn't tax kerosene to make it uneconomical and to encourage private investment in atomic power?

Oh. OK. Never mind.

What? FDR didn't force the elderly to subsidize private annuity brokers? He imposed a single, simple, efficient tax to pay for a single, simple, efficient public system of retirement benefits?

All right, then, forget FDR. He was a socialist, anyway. Let Dwight Eisenhower serve as a model for the Obama administration. President Eisenhower authorized the biggest infrastructure program in American history, when he signed the National Interstate and Defense Highways Act of 1956. The interstate highway act created an elaborate system of private tax incentives and public-private partnerships (PPPs) to encourage private corporations to build national highways. To begin with, all U.S. highways were leased to domestic and foreign corporations for a period of decades. Second, all U.S. highways were set up with toll booths, so that American drivers would be forced to repay the corporate owners of the national highways every few dozen miles. Finally, a system of high-speed lanes with higher tolls was created, so that the rich could whiz down the road while middle-class and poor Americans were stuck in traffic jams ...

All right, what now, wise guy? So that's wrong, too? Eisenhower's national highway system wasn't based on tolls, leases to foreign companies, income-based pricing, and tax credits for private corporations? It used gasoline taxes to fund free public highways?

Free highways without toll booths, owned by the public, paid for out of taxes? My God. So the John Birch Society was right after all. Dwight Eisenhower was as much of a socialist as Franklin Delano Roosevelt!

Sarah Palin is Right About Drilling in the ANWR

by Janet Crain

How much longer are we going to keep shooting ourselves in the foot? In both feet? In the midst of the worst economic crisis in decades with no promise of relief in sight, our leaders are imposing severe hardships by cap and trade legislation, new automobile emissions and fuel standards, higher taxes on coal production and refusal to tap into the richest resource available.

I consider this an emergency and in an emergency ou do whatever it takes to survive. If you want to win a race you don't encumber yourself with shackles and weights and restrict fluids or deny them all together. Because if you were so insane as to do this, you would not only lose the race, you would most likely die.

Read what George Will has to say on this insanity:

Iowa's caucuses, a source of so much turbulence, might even have helped cause the recent demonstration by 10,000 Indonesians in Jakarta. Savor the multiplying irrationalities of the government-driven mania for ethanol and other biofuels, and energy policy generally.

Indonesians, like most Asians, love soybeans, the world price of which has risen 50 percent in a month and 125 percent in a year, partly because of increasing world population and incomes, but also because many farmers have switched land from soybeans to crops that can be turned into biofuels. In 2005, America used 15 percent of its corn crop to supplant less than 2 percent of its gasoline use. In 2007, the government-contrived U.S. demand for ethanol was more than half the global increase in demand. The political importance of corn-growing, ethanol-making Iowa is one reason that biofuel mandates flow from Washington the way oil would flow from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge if it had nominating caucuses.

ANWR's 10.4 billion barrels of oil have become hostage to the planet's saviors (e.g., John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama), who block drilling in even a tiny patch of ANWR. You could fit Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Delaware into ANWR's frozen desolation; the "footprint" of the drilling operation would be one sixth the size of Washington's Dulles airport.

Clinton has an alternative to drilling: Oil should be released from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve—which exists to protect the nation against major interruptions of supply—as "a signal to the market." A signal of what? Readiness to release more? All 698 million barrels? Then what?

Americans can still drill for … water. Water rights (T. Boone Pickens has bought 400,000 acres of them in the Texas Panhandle) are becoming more valuable as ethanol production, which is extremely water-intensive, puts pressure on supplies.

To avoid drilling for oil in ANWR's moonscape, the planet savers evidently prefer destroying forests, even though they absorb greenhouse gases. Will ethanol prevent more carbon-dioxide emissions than would have been absorbed by the trees cut down to clear land for the production of crops for ethanol? Be that as it may, governments mandating the use of biofuels are one reason for the global rise in food prices, which is driving demand for more arable land. That demand is driving the destruction of forests—and animal habitats. In Indonesia alone, 44 million acres have been razed to make way for production of palm oil.

Hail, hail the gang's all here!!!

WASHINGTON — It’s official. The old Clinton gang really is back together again. Answering the phones these days for the co-chairman of President-elect Barack Obama’s transition, John D. Podesta, is none other than Betty Currie.

Stephen Crowley/The New York Times

Betty Currie at her desk at the White house in July 1995 with President Bill Clinton and Anthony Lake, the national security advisor.

Emerging from retirement in southern Maryland to volunteer at Obama headquarters, Ms. Currie was the personal secretary to President Bill Clinton, who became caught up in an independent counsel investigation into his trysts with the White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Since leaving the White House, Ms. Currie, 69, has shied from publicity and kept a low profile in Hollywood, Md., where she lives with her husband, Bob, and Socks, the presidential cat, which she took with her after Mr. Clinton left office.

Obama presents new cabinet

Published: Monday 01 December 2008 18:45 UTC
Last updated: Monday 01 December 2008 18:45 UTC
US president elect Barack Obama has announced who will be nominated for the key positions in the new government. Most of the nominations had been leaked beforehand. Mr Obama's former rival for the Democratic nomination Hillary Clinton will become secretary of state, the Republican Robert Gates will stay on as defense secretary. Former Marine Corps general James Jones has been nominated as national security advisor.

Eric Holder is the intended new Attorney General and Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano has been nominated head of the Department of Homeland Security, which was created in the wake of 9/11. New York Central Bank President Timothy Geithner has been chosen to become secretary of the treasury.

Noteworthy is that Mr Obama has appointed many ministers and advisors who also played a role in former president Bill Clinton's cabinet. Former secretary of the treasury Lawrence Summers will lead the National Economic Council, Susan Rice, former deputy secretary of state, will become the new US ambassador to the United Nations.

On track, but who's driving the train?

by Janet Crain
Personally I believe Obama wants his "team of rivals" near so he can watch them and hopefully control them. By appointing Hillary as Secretary of State, he has effectively eliminated any serious Democratic competition for his 2012 candidacy for re-election.

Obama plans to name Clinton to state

President-elect Barack Obama is "on track" to name Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) as his secretary of state shortly after Thanksgiving, two senior Obama aides said.

Financial disclosure issues have been worked out, aides said.

The officials said they expect her to accept. Clinton aides had no comment.

The choice unites the two rivals in the most protracted presidential primary in American history, giving Obama the Team of Rivals Cabinet he had promised.

Former President Bill Clinton authorized unprecedented disclosures about his finances to Obama's vetting team, and transition lawyers are satisfied, officials said.

NYT columnist Maureen Dowd
: "What worries me, though, is that much of the media attention today is focused on the wrong relationship question. Everyone is asking how she would manage the relationship with former President Bill Clinton and his own global speaking, fund-raising and philanthropic agendas. You have to believe that they’ll do everything they can to try to figure that out — but it’s not a done deal yet. Obviously, Mr. Clinton would have to restrict some of his activities. The important question, the answer of which is not at all clear to me, is about the only relationship that matters for a secretary of state — the kind of relationship he or she would have with the new president. My question: Is Obama considering Mrs. Clinton for this job in order to get her off his back or as a prelude to protecting her back?

NYT's Thomas Friedman: "Bill has the satisfaction of seeing that he has roiled the previously serene and joyous Obamaland. It may be Obama’s very willingness to take the albatross of Bill from around Hillary’s neck and sling it around his own that impresses Bill. Obama is overlooking all his cherished dictums against drama and leaking and his lofty vetting standards to try and create a situation where the country can benefit from the talent of the Clintons while curbing their cheesy excesses, like their endless cash flow from foreigners. And in turn, Bill is doing all he can — he’s disclosing sketchy donors and business interests and figuring out how he could curb his global gallivanting to have fewer conflicts of interest — to help his wife get the job.It says it all that, at the moment Washington became obsessed with news that Hillary was a contender for State, Bill was getting a half-million for an hour’s worth of chat sponsored by the National Bank of Kuwait, delivered from behind a podium with a camel and Arabic lettering on it. Last year, Bill made $10.1 million in speaking fees."
