Now this is change, baby!!!!

Below: Military usher suggests a better location than the Cross Hall to change a baby’s diaper before an event in the East Room, May 1, 2009. REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque

Look at this woman who was there a couple of days ago for a ceremony. She was doing the diaper change when a uniformed usher escorted her to a more suitable place.

If only Sarah Palin were Vice-president we might see more diaper changing in the White House.

Trouble in Paradise......

by Janet Crain
In the wonderful new Enchanted Universe we now live in where the sun is always shining and a big rainbow serves as a backdrop for unicorns and bunnies hopping merrily about, there's just a wee bit of trouble. Haters, as they have come to be calls, those bitter unhappy people with no life are lurking about saying really ugly things. Who would have thought the WINNERS of the Presidential campaign would act this way now that their supreme being has been installed with all the pomp and majesty a so called democracy could muster.

Obama Intends to Hijack US Census

NewsWithViews.com participated in a press teleconference with several reporters, Internet journalists and bloggers.

For many, many years the function of counting the number of US citizens and residents living in the US and its territories is historically supposed to be non-political and free from manipulation by any political party.

However, according to critics of the President Barak Obama Administration, the Democrat Party is taking advantage of its capture of the White House and both houses of Congress to take a “more active role” in the US Census process including oversight of the information gathering by Obama appointees.

“The fight to protect the accuracy and independence of the 2010 census has just begun,” said Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, the top Republican on a House subcommittee overseeing the census.

“President Obama has made clear that he intends to employ the political manipulation of census data for partisan gain,” said the conservative congressman.

What a Thankless Job

Like the people who clean up after the elephants in the circus and horses in a parade, some jobs just don't get the thanks they deserve!!! In fact, sometimes people laugh right in the damage controller's face. JC

First Lady Needs $540. Sneakers to Walk the Dog!!!!

First Lady Michelle Obama steps out in Lanvin sneakers and they're only $540!

BY Amy Diluna
DAILY NEWS FASHION EDITOR

Friday, May 1st 2009, 3:22 PM

Michelle Obama has taken casual to a haute new level.

While volunteering Wednesday at a D.C. food bank, the First Lady sported her usual J.Crew cardigan, a pair of utilitarian capri pants and, on her feet, a sneaky splurge: trainers that go for $540.

That's right: These sneakers - suede, with grosgrain ribbon laces and metallic pink toe caps - are made by French design house Lanvin, one of fashion's hottest labels. They come in denim and satin versions, and have been a brisk seller all spring.

They're out of stock at posh Meatpacking District boutique Jeffrey, and Barneys New York boasts a limited selection of the sneaks, which are a cult favorite among fashionistas.

It's likely Michelle got hers through Ikram, the Chicago retailer that often outfits her.

"They're shoes," the First Lady's reps sniffed when curious reporters inquired about the fancy footwear.

Michelle has stepped out in Lanvin before while getting down to business. A week ago, she shoveled dirt at a tree planting while wearing the line's chiffon tank. (Doesn't everyone shovel dirt wearing a chiffon top? JC)

Dresses and strappy pumps cost upward of $1,500, while tops go for $400 to $1,000.

Other celebrity fans of Lanvin's costly kicks include Ellen DeGeneres and Kanye West, who has blogged about his faves.

As the family's primary dog walker, Michelle clearly requires comfortable footwear.

"I got up at 5:15 in the morning to walk my puppy," she joked Thursday. "That's how my day starts. Even though the kids are supposed to do a lot of the work, I'm still up at 5:15 a.m. taking my dog out."

President Obama warns of ‘cataclysmic hurricanes’ despite evidence to the contrary

UPDATE: According to this book; Hurricanes and Typhoons: Past, Present, and Future
by Richard J. Murnane (Editor), Kam-biu Liu (Editor)

"Paleotempestology is an emerging field of science that studies past tropical cyclone activity mainly through the use of geological proxy techniques..."

A study of the past 5,000 years reveals the past 1.000 years to have been relatively quiet.

As an amateur student of History and Weather Patterns, I have found many instances of terrible cataclysmic hurricanes occurring 500 years ago and more.

The Eastern Seaboard was battered every year by these hurricanes in the 1580's. The fate of the New World suffered many changes brought about by this unpredictable weather. The English could barely establish a toehold in the New World for many years. And Spain lost lives and tons of silver and gold as hurricanos broke up their ships and sent them to the Atlantic Graveyard.

And one of the worst hurricanes ever destroyed Galveston Island on September 9th, 1900. It was much more powerful than Katrina. Katrina was destructive in its financial cost in 2005 dollar amounts.

This has been twisted into a statement that Katrina was the most destructive hurricane ever. Hardly!

And there was no manmade Global Warming then. Al Gore has created Global Warming to cash in on his investments and speaking engagements.

And our president is playing right into his hands. If you know a 4th grader tell them, weather has always been completely unpredictable. Constantly changing due to cyclic patterns and many other influences.
You're now looking at huge, cataclysmic hurricanes, complete changes in weather patterns. - President Barack Obama

April 30, 5:21 PM
Citing a long disproven theory of 'cataclysmic hurricanes,' President Barack Obama pushed for action to battle manmade climate change and global warming. During a town hall meeting prior to his primetime press conference Wednesday, the president offered a dire global weather forecast to mark his 100th day in office.

During the town hall a student asked, “I'm a fourth grader. I was curious, how is your administration planning to be more environmentally friendly?”

President Obama’s response started by making mention of the need for responsible environmental measures such as land and forest management. He said, “there's nothing wrong with us cutting down some trees for timber, as long as you make sure that it's done in a sequence and is spaced properly so that the forest itself is sustained.” He continued saying, “there's a balance that can be struck, and the key principle is sustainability.”

When his reply moved on to climate change, he issued a dire prediction saying, “You're now looking at huge, cataclysmic hurricanes, complete changes in weather patterns.”

American Farmers Plowing Tomatoes Under Due to Losses From Mexican Competition

by Janet Crain
Did you know that after oranges, tomatoes are Florida's second largest crop? It's really a shame these Florida growers couldn't hold on a little longer. Consumers may soon refuse to buy tomatoes grown in Mexico.

South Dade tomato farmers find their livelihood threatened by plunging prices, demand

With sales down and prices plunging, it has been a brutal season for tomato growers in the Homestead area.

BY ELAINE WALKER

ewalker@MiamiHerald.com

Freddy Strano spent much of last week mowing down 100 acres of perfectly good tomatoes.

The Homestead grower was trying to cut his losses and bring to a close what has been an awful season. Strano estimates he has lost $500,000 or more this winter. The problem: He couldn't sell his tomatoes for anywhere close to what it cost to grow and harvest them.

''They were beautiful tomatoes, some of the better ones we've had in years,'' said Strano, whose family has been in the tomato business since 1939. ``The prices were just horrible. It's demoralizing. It's going to cripple everybody.''

Homestead tomato growers faced a double whammy as consumers cut back purchases amid an oversupply. The combination sent prices plummeting to the lowest levels in years. A 25-pound box of tomatoes sold for much of the winter at $4-$6. The cost to grow and harvest that box is as high as $10.

While the problems have been affecting tomato growers across the state, the pain has been more acute in South Miami-Dade, where the 12-week growing season came just as prices dropped in January.

Tomato prices only started to pick up early this month, as the season wound down.

When the losses are tallied, many fear that some smaller tomato growers could be forced out of business. It's an ongoing trend as skyrocketing growing costs, immigration reform and increased competition from Mexico have already forced major consolidation in recent years among the growers of Florida's biggest vegetable crop.

''A loser like this gets your attention really quickly,'' said Kern Carpenter, a South Miami-Dade grower who has been in the business for more than 25 years and whose family's tomato history dates back six-plus decades. ``You start to wonder, do you need to be looking to do something else?''

This year Florida tomato growers estimate consumer demand has been off 15 percent. The recession has forced consumers to cut expenses, and while tomatoes are a staple grocery item, for many people they're not a necessity. Add to that a decline in consumer confidence from the lingering effects of last year's salmonella scare, which incorrectly implicated tomatoes.

The reduced demand comes during a year when weather and soil conditions were so favorable that most growers produced more bountiful crops.

The situation got even worse when an influx of Mexican tomatoes flooded the market at low prices, raising allegations of potential trade violations.

Obama's ratings slide: press conference down 29%

Related: http://sarah-palin-2012.blogspot.com/2009/04/photos-and-presidents-both-can-be.html

Obama44 Audience interest in Barack Obama’s news conferences seems to be falling, with Wednesday’s press event drawing the president’s smallest primetime audience since his inauguration.

The telecast to mark Obama’s 100th day in office was viewed by 28.8 million people, according to Nielsen. That's a 29% drop from the president's last press conference, on March 24, and a 42% fall since his first, on Feb. 9.

Ten networks carried the telecast, which is one less than last time since Fox elected to run its detective drama Lie to Me (7.8 million, 2.3 national adults 18-49 rating) instead. Airing its regular entertainment programming saved Fox ad dollars but didn’t help the show much. Lie pulled the same rating it did last week. Yet, like last week, it won the 8 p.m. hour.
